Age 83 of NE Mpls, died on Christmas Eve Sunday, December 24, 2023 Nick was the 3rd of 5 children born to Joseph and Ledwina (Kraemer) Heille on October 20, 1940. Nick was raised and spent most of his life in Nordeast, Minneapolis.

In July 1969 he married Rosemary, they spent the next 54 years together. They raised 2 kids, Mary Barker and John. Nick was a novice in the Christian Brothers and got to know Dorothy Day at the Catholic Worker House in New York City. In the late 60’s Nick started working with computers as a systems analyst. He worked for 20 years for Hennepin County. He used to joke about working with a billion-dollar COBAL accounts receivable file. Nick was passionate about the arts in Nordeast Minneapolis and volunteered with the Boy Scouts for over 30 years. He was a member of St Lawrence in Dinkytown. In retirement Nick and Rosie loved to travel and volunteer.

In 2015 Nick had a stroke and he fought hard to learn to walk and write again.

He is survived by his wife Rosie, sister Shirley Graczyk, brother Chris and wife Denise, sister-in-law Lou Thoma, daughter Mary Barker and husband Eric, son John and wife Laura Aase, family by choice Bridget and Grant Altmann, grandkids Paige Barker, Wren Heille, Gray Heille, and Norah Heille, Maggie Altmann, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Leddy, sister Rita McGinnis and husband John, brother Bernie, brothers-in-law Art Graczyk and Ben Thoma. Funeral Mass at St Lawrence Newman (1203 5th St. SE Mpls.) in Dinkytown 11am Saturday, December 30, 2023. visitation 1hour before. Burial St. Anthony Cemetery.
