Powles, Michael Christopher
Michael Christopher Powles, age 74, of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, passed away March 31, 2025. He was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on May 12, 1950, to Charles and Geraldine Powles. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1968 and went on to work in the IT field until his retirement from Allina Health as a Business Analyst. Michael married the love of his life, Alice M. Becker on December 31, 1973. They celebrated 24 wonderful years of marriage together until her passing in 1997.
Mike and Alice were very active in the timing and scoring at Brainerd International Raceway. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed traveling.
Michael was a wonderful person with akind soul who gave the very best hugs.
Michael was also a literal and figurative pillar of the Minnesota Masonic fraternity, where his involvement with many different Masonic organizations spanned over 53 years. Michael's contributions to the York Rite, the Scottish Rite, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Minneapolis Lodge No.19 -just to name a few - were immeasurable.
He was Presiding Officer over countless Masonic bodies where he served by example: with freedom, fervency and zeal. He will be greatly missed by his Masonic Brothers and Sisters.
Mike is survived by his brother, Mark Powles (Ellen), nieces Angela Kappes (Jerod), Julie Milroy (Nicholas), Jennifer Helenius (Neil) and nine great nieces and nephews, all of South Range, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Alice.
A memorial will take place on Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Minneapolis Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 2011 Dupont Ave. S, Minneapolis, 55405. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with aservice at 2:00 p.m.
